?10M +Dos Santos Deal Could Signal The End For Spurs Pair

Just days after a link with Robert Green, Tottenham are being credited with interest in another goalkeeper ? Udinese?s Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is the latest to interest the White Hart Lane club.

As I spoke about this week, Spurs are allegedly interested in Robert Green to challenge with Brad Friedel after leaving West Ham on a free transfer, but today?s Metro is linking Spurs with a move for Handanovic.

Handanovic is almost 28 now but has cemented himself as one of Serie A?s finest goalkeepers and could be ready to move on from Udinese for a ?bigger club?. However, Udinese are in the Champions League in 2012/13 and Tottenham won?t be. It would take a lot for Handanovic to give that up at this stage of his career.

The fee suggested is ?10m but including long-time Udinese target Giovani dos Santos in the deal could make a deal even more attractive to Harry Redknapp?s side. Funds are seemingly readily available this summer for Spurs, even without the suggested sales of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

Ajax?s Jan Vertonghen is set for a move to Tottenham and Loic Remy is a main target as Spurs look to break back into the Top 4.

The pursuit of a new goalkeeper raises question marks about the current shot stoppers at the club. Friedel is now 41 and whilst he shows little sign of decline, Spurs may look for youth and a goalkeeper they can count on for the next 5-10 years. Heurelho Gomes has been disgruntled with a lack of first team action since the signing of Brad Friedel and appears to be heading for the exit.

Any move for Handanovic would also surely spell the end of the Robert Green chase as I highly doubt Green would be content with being third choice at Spurs when he can first choice elsewhere.
